About the Highland Games
A Scottish tradition for everyone
Highland Games are a Scottish tradition and celebration that showcases all things of Scottish traditions featuring athletic events, music, food, piping, and dancing.
While no two Highland Games are the same, many will offer similar events such as Stone Carry, Caber Toss, Weight Over Bar, Spear Toss, Stone Put, Sword Fighting, Sack Race, Archery, and many more! While some of these events are known to be “Heavy Events” (Caber Toss, Stone Carry, Stone Put etc.) and can be quite the spectacle to see, Richmond Highland Games is for everyone of all ages and experience. From beginners to skilled athletes, Scottish tradition is for everyone to enjoy and experience.
Most games are played by one individual at a time. However, there are some events that require teams or Clans to participate in. Individuals can represent themselves or team up to compete against other Clans in events such as Tug O War.
While in between events or watching as a spectator, everyone is welcome to experience the Scottish culture with foods, crafts and Clan gatherings.
