Caber Toss

  • 1 Chance to Score. 1 Throw per person. 
  • The caber (wooden pole) is tossed end-over-end, with the goal of the caber landing directly away from the thrower at a 12 o'clock position. Perpendicular Lines will be drawn for measurements. 
  • Cabers will be scored based off the distance of each end of the caber is away from the perpendicular line. Smallest score is ideal. 0 score being the caber is perfectly on the line after being tossed.
  • Any ties will go to sudden death.

Archery

  • 1 Chance to score closest to bullseye. 
  • 15ft distance for adults, 7ft for kids. 
  • Any ties will go on to sudden death.

Stone Carry

  • 1 Chance to carry your weighted stone the furthest. Cones will be set up at 50ft from staring point. Down and back is 100ft. For Safety reasons, Running with the stone is NOT permitted.

Spear Toss

  • 1 chance to score the closest to bullseye. Distance will be approximately 15ft from target for Adults. 7ft for Kids. 
  • Any ties will go on to sudden death.

Sword Fighting

  • Judges will be monitoring each round. 3 hits/tags with the foam sword to your opponent wins. Rounds reset after each tag. NO HEAD HITS! Head hits are immediate disqualification. 

13 or Older. 1 vs 1. Foam swords and wooden shields. Fights are in random order. Anyone can compete against anyone!

Hammer Throw

  • 1 chance to throw the furthest distance from staring point.

Tug Of War

  • CLAN VS CLAN! 5 vs 5. 5 members from each Clan will compete against other clans in bracket style Tug O War. 
  • Ideally, members of the same clan will be on each Tug O War team. However, teams can be combined with other clans IF Clan does NOT have 5 members. 

Sack Race

  • 300 yard race in burlap sacks. 150 yards one way, cross the line, and 150 yards back to the start. 10-12 racers at a time (There will be heats if there are more. Top 3 finishers of each heat will move on)

Everyone vs Everyone! Adults and Kids can all compete together!

Host Location Informed Consent / Assumption of Risk Waiver

I willingly assume full responsibility for any and all risks that I am exposed to as a result of my participation in host locations competitions and accept full responsibility for any injury or death that may result from participation in any activity, class, or physical fitness program.

I hereby certify that I know of no medical problems that would increase my risk of illness and injury as a result of participation in a physical event designed by Richmond Highland Games. With my full understanding of the above information,

I agree to assume any and all risk associated with my participation in competitions.

I fully understand that my personal exercise program may be strenuous and I chose to participate voluntarily. I accept all responsibility for my health and any results, injury, or mishaps that may affect my well-being or health in any way. I waive any claims, demands, causes of action, or any claims for relief whatsoever against, and release the host location (as well as its owner(s), employees, or other authorized agents, including independent contractors) from any and all liability, claims and/or causes of action that I may have for injuries or other damages arising out of participation in host location activities including, but not limited to, the personal training / nutritional programs and/or classes.

Photo/Video Release

I hereby grant the Richmond Highland Games host location permission to use my photographic/video image in any and all publications for Richmond Highland Games, and/or the host location including web site entries without payment or any other consideration in perpetuity. I hereby authorize host location to edit, alter, copy, exhibit, publish, or distribute all photos and images. I waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product, including printed or electronic copy, wherein my photo appears.

Additionally, I waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of the photograph or video images. I hereby hold harmless and release and forever discharge host location from all claims, demands, and causes of action which I, my heirs, representatives, executors, administrators, or any other persons acting on my behalf, or on the behalf of my estate, which may have or may have by reason of this authorization.

Indemnification

I recognize that there is risk involved in the types of activities offered by the host location. Therefore, I accept financial responsibility for any injury that I may cause either to myself or to any other participant due to his/her negligence. Should the above mentioned parties, or anyone acting on their behalf, be required to incur attorney’s fees and costs to enforce this agreement, I agree to reimburse them for such fees and costs. I further agree to indemnify ad hold harmless host location, its owner(s), agents, employees, and volunteers from liability for the injury or death of any person(s) and damage to property that may result from my negligent or intentional act or omission while participating in activities offered by host location.

I have fully read and fully understand the foregoing assumption of risk, and release of liability and I understand that by signing it obligates me to indemnify the parties named for any liability for injury or death of any person and damage to property caused by my negligent or intentional act or omission. I understand that by signing this form I am waiving valuable legal rights.

I have carefully read this Agreement and fully understand its contents. I am aware that this is a release and waiver of liability and sign it knowingly, voluntarily, and of my own free will.
